RIDING LESSONS

RIDING LESSONS

At Manege Hestar we have a number of different types of lessons and activities for beginners and advanced riders.

Below you will find the weekly classes, our event calendar with all upcoming activities can be found here.

IMPORTANT! The demand for riding lessons at Hestar is very high and that's why we unfortunately have a waiting list!

Placement is in order of registration, but we also look at age and experience.

Only for experienced riders we might have a spot available sooner.

We think it is very important that our children take the time to groom and tack up the ponies themselves with the help of our team.

That's why we ask you to be present 30 minutes before the lessons starts.

And of course we also expect you to take good care of your pony after the lesson.

PONY-PRET

For the smallest pony lovers we have 'lessons' with our sweetest ponies.

All children from four years can participate in this! This is not a riding lesson but the kids can learn how to groom the ponies and 'play' with them.

At the moment there is a lesson on Wednesday 13:30 and on Saturday at 09:30, the lessons are 30 minutes. There is currently a short waiting list for pony pret.

The cost of a trial lesson is 10 euros.

After this we work with a 5 or 10-lesson card and you have a permanent spot in pony pret.

BIXIE/BEGINNER LESSONS

In 2020 we started with a new teaching form for starting riders of primary school age: the so-called Bixie lesson plan. Developed by the FNRS, this lesson plan focuses on playfully learning how to handle ponies, grooming, confidence and all the basics of riding.

The Bixie lessons are for kids 6 years and up .

Part of these lessons is the grooming, tacking up and taking care of your pony.

All of this is supported by the Bixie friends. The children can obtain intermediate diplomas that show their progress. We start in groups of 6 children and the lesson lasts one hour. A lesson consists of theory, grooming and riding. As the children are more advanced, riding will form a greater part of the lesson.

GROUP LESSONS

After the Bixie lessons we offer group lessons for riders of all levels. We ride with an average of 10 children per group for an hour. the group lessons take place in the large indoor arena (or outside in good weather). Advanced youth riders are of course also welcome at our riding school. In consultation with our instructors, we will give you a spot in a lesson that matches your age and experience. In addition to your regular lesson, you can also participate in additional lessons, such as our weekly jumping lesson.

JUMPING LESSONS

We organize weekly jumping lessons for enthusiastic riders who want to take a jump.

Of course we adapt the lesson to the level of the participants.

Jumping lessons are given on Wednesday afternoons. We work with 5 or 10 lesson cards so that we can build up the lessons each week and make the most progress.

Currently there is a waiting list for the weekly jumping lessons.

Because the demand for jumping lessons is so high, we also organize jumping lessons on Sundays every now and then.

PONYPOWER

For some children, learning to ride a horse in a group lesson is not so obvious. Children with autism or ADHD are more at home in a small group where we playfully work on trust and interaction between pony and child.

With this we build a bridge between horse riding lessons and horse coaching for children.

This lesson is now given in pilot on Tuesday afternoon at 6 pm.

Unfortunately there is also a waiting list for ponypower.

PRIVATE LESSONS

There is limited possibility to book a private lesson. Hestar members always have priority. This lesson lasts half an hour. You can book a private lesson to practice something extra, or in case of fear or just once as an extra experience.

The individual private lessons are paid per lesson.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION....

When you get off your pony with great enthusiasm after your first lesson, you'll want to come back every week! You can, but then one of your parents/guardians must complete and sign a lesson agreement. This is also the registration for the FNRS and the Rider Passport. It is an official and personal document for all riding school riders who ride at an FNRS Equestrian Center.

In the rider passport you can register many things, such as ridden competitions, ridden outdoor rides, but also when you have ridden the first riding lessons. On presentation of your equestrian passport you will receive discounts on equestrian camps and for various activities and events and you can participate in KNHS competitions.

In addition, accident insurance is linked to the rider's passport, which is an important document!

Read more about this at www.fnrs.nl

Do you want to cancel? The notice period is 1 calendar month and can only take place in writing or by email.

Do not forget to cancel your rider passport yourself via the FNRS!

LESSON AGREEMENT AND RIDERS PASSPORT

The lessons last 60 minutes with (de)mounting. In addition, the riders must be present half an hour before the start of the lesson to groom and tack up their pony or horse. After the lesson, the riders must stable, remove tack and care for the ponies and horses.

As a result, a lesson usually lasts about 2 hours with preparation and follow-up preparation.

Due to the classification of the ponies, cancellations must be communicated to HESTAR 24 hours before the lesson via the customer portal.

Only then can a rescheduled lesson be discussed. You can reschedule within the current quarter.

Rescheduling missed lessons outside the current quarter is NOT allowed.

Circumstances may arise where the instructor decides to convert the practical lesson into a theory lesson or lunge lesson.

When this decision is made, it is for the safety or driving ability of the children. In very hot weather, lessons are shortened to 45 minutes and water games can be played with the ponies. This is in the interest of the ponies.

There are no classes in the first four weeks of the summer holiday in primary education and Hestar is completely closed due to our camp in Drenthe.

In these weeks there is no right to reschedule lessons, this is included in the quarterly price.

During the last two weeks of the summer holidays, the lessons are combined and the lessons are on appointment.
