SEPTEMBER 3, 2021 - NEW HOME FOR JACK SPARROW
Unfortunately we say goodbye to a horse again: Jack is our sweetest cuddly toy in the stable, but he finds everything under saddle very exciting and that makes him not suitable as a riding school horse. Luckily we found a new owner who loves him as much as we do and can give him all the time and attention he needs.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2021 - BALISTO IS BACK
Our sweet mare Balisto has been away for a while as a surrogate mother because she was injured. Now her foal is big enough to stand on its own two feet and Balisto has come back to us. We are going to build up very slowly and hope that the injury will stay away and that we will still have a lot of fun with her.
JULY 12, 2021 - NEW HOME FOR CORONA
It's been a year since our dear Corona got sick. Since then she has been on the pasture to recover. She is now doing very well, but unfortunately not well enough to return as a riding pony. Luckily we found a new owner for her in her caretaker! This is how Corona gets the life she deserves and her brand new owner is very happy with this sweet pony. We wish them the best of luck together...!!!
MAY 29, 2021 - NEW PONY SKITTLE
After a long search we have found our newest addition! It is a gelding and is called Skittle.
He is with the small geldings in the group and has already made friends there!
MAY 12, 2021 - NEW PONY'S MARSHMALLOW AND GOOFY
We would like to introduce you to our 2 new acquisitions!
Marshmallow is a Cremello colored mare of 5 years old and Goofy is a chestnut colored gelding of 5 years old.
24 APRIL 2021 - GOODBYE TO DESPERADO
Bad news never comes alone.... Unfortunately, Desperado can no longer recover from his knee injury. Because we give him so much, we put him in the meadow with his old buddy Corona yesterday where he can enjoy his last days and just be a horse. Unfortunately, he won't be coming back to us. Because Desperado does not like cuddling at all, we have not offered the opportunity to say goodbye in his interest.
19 APRIL 2021 - GOODBYE TO OREO
Unfortunately, we have sad pony news again. At the beginning of January last year we bought Magnum and Oreo. They were neglected and anything but healthy so we knew we were taking a risk. We decided to give these ponies a chance. And it worked.. They did it well!! Until we had to make a difficult decision for Magnum a few months ago. Fortunately, Oreo did so well that she is now the darling of many children. Last week Oreo became lame and we took her out of class. After a few days of walking there was no improvement and we went to the vet. It now appears that both her front legs are full of old injuries that will no longer go away and for which no treatment is possible. She has pain that cannot heal. Again we have to make the difficult but unfortunately only fair decision for her and have her put to sleep. Until Wednesday you can come and say goodbye to our sweet Oreo.
FEBRUARY 12, 2021 - WELCOME TORNADO AND JACK SPARROW! NEW OWNER FOR PABLOS?
Tornado came to live with us yesterday afternoon. He is a 14 year old pony who will join our pony team. Today tornado has been driving for a while, he did it super well!
Totally unexpected we saw a nice horse. His name is Jack Sparrow. He is 7 years old and 1.68 tall! He is the replacement for Pablos who was unfortunately not very happy with the crowds at the riding school. pablos now has a very nice home and his new owner is very happy with him!
FEBRUARY 12, 2021 - NEW HOME FOR MR SNORO
After much deliberation we took the plunge and decided that it is better for Mr Mustache and for us to find a new owner for him. Because of his behavior towards other horses, he can only participate in the advanced classes. Because the equestrian center continues to grow with younger members, we have to adjust our horse stock accordingly.
JANUARY 3, 2021 - GOODBYE TO MAGNUM
A year ago, Magnum and Oreo came on Hestar. They were anxious and thin and not very healthy.
We have given them all possible care and attention to be able to offer them a nice life as a riding pony.
Unfortunately, Magnum has suffered from leg injuries time and again and is in a lot of pain. A pain-free life is unfortunately no longer possible for her. That is why we had to decide in consultation with the vet to let her go.
Last year we had to say goodbye to too many sweet ponies. Again with pain in our hearts, but out of love and respect for our animals.

20 DECEMBER 2020 - HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the retired Zazou, Droopy, Phoebe, Elmo.
5 DECEMBER 2020 - STAR RETIRED
Our dear Sterre has been running our riding school for many years and is now quite elderly... She taught many children how to ride a horse and gave us a lot of fun. There is no greater childhood friend...
So when a very nice offer came by from someone who was looking for a sweet pony as a meadow buddy, we didn't have to think twice. We should not deprive our Sterre of such a great opportunity for a nice old age after a long life as a riding pony. That is why we say goodbye to her with pain in our hearts and we will bring her to her new home next week where she can enjoy herself!!!
So everyone can say goodbye this week and cuddle with her!
26 SEPTEMBER 2020 - OPEN RIDING DAYS
On Saturday September 26, our riding school opened its doors to all children on the waiting list. Because our waiting list is long and of course we are happy and proud that so many children want to come and ride with us, we also regret that we cannot offer everyone a place. That is why we organized fun activities on this afternoon especially for our 'waiting children': the kids could do crafts, play games, brush and cuddle ponies and of course also drive around.
APRIL 29, 2020 - WE'RE BEGAN AGAIN!
We have started again!! What a party... The sun was shining and there were only very happy faces to be seen. Finally riding again after all these weeks!!!
We had to completely change the schedule, check out our new customer portal when you are scheduled! And pay attention... for next week and the weeks after that, a new lesson format will follow.

SEPTEMBER 23, 2019 - PONYPOWER STARTS!!
Finally the time has come.... we have started our horse riding lessons for special children. Children with autism or ADHD, for example, who cannot participate in our normal riding lessons.
In this lesson we work with small groups, with intensive supervision, the individual children and a lot of structure and rest.
The official start was on September 23 and alderman Nadine Stemerdink was present to give this an extra festive touch.

OCTOBER 2, 2019 - CHECK LIONS PRINCESS MARIANNE FOR HESTAR
We are very happy with the contribution of the Lionsclub Princess Marianne Voorburg!!! Thanks to this contribution we have been able to offer training to two instructors in horse coaching and we have changed the canopies of the stable roofs.

SEPTEMBER 8, 2019 - NEW INSTRUCTORS PASS!!!!
Good news.... We have 7 new instructors! These brand new instructors all ride on Hestar and have been trained as instructors in recent months. They have obtained the diploma and it was festively awarded in Ermelo last week.
Who knows, they might teach you soon too!

20 MARCH 2019 - NL DOES IN RAIN AND STORM...
We are again very happy with the results that we have been able to achieve at NL Doet. Partly due to the bad weather we were with a limited number of people, but we worked so hard and we are so happy with the results:
- We now have 4 paddocks with new posts and fencing.
So more ponies can now go outside at the same time.
- The tack room has been moved to the former office, so don't carry your saddle so far!
- The fence of the outdoor arena has been cleaned up again
- The facade and the terrace are free of green attack again and look great again
- Finally, a start has also been made with the replacement of the roofs of the stables.

AUGUST 2018 - PONY CAMP AGAIN A GREAT SUCCESS!
Summer is unfortunately over and pony camp is behind us. We have had three super fun but also super tough weeks.
This year we had a record number of children and also a record temperature!
Fortunately, we were able to cool off in the pool every now and then.
Thanks again to all the children for coming and having fun.
We will be back next year of course!!!!

20 JUNE 2018 - LIONS CLUB SPONSORE HESTAR
The Lions Club Pr. Marianne will sponsor our foundation this year! We are of course very happy and grateful for the contribution to the refurbishment of the stables and the opportunity to train our instructors for working with children with disabilities.

14 SEPTEMBER 2017 - HESTAR AT CITY BREAKFAST IN VOORBURG
On Sunday 17 September, all residents of Voorburg can join the city breakfast in the Herenstraat (near Papermoon/Meat-Point) between 10 am and 12 noon. During breakfast, the children can go for a ride on some of the ponies of the Hestar riding school. A fun way to get to know our staff and ponies. Caps are available, because safety comes first! During the city breakfast we have a nice offer for the participants, so come by!

SEPTEMBER 16, 2017 - HESTAR AND MUNICIPALITY RENEW RENTAL AGREEMENT
On Saturday September 16, the board of Youth Manege Hestar and Alderman Bianca Bremer of the Leidschendam-Voorburg municipality signed the extension of the lease for the riding school. With this, Hestar is assured of a place in the heart of the municipality for the next three years. The signing took place during the FNRS open day at the riding school. During the day, in addition to the regular lessons, there were games for the children and activities with the ponies. Chairman of the board of Jeugdmanege Hestar explains: “We are very pleased that the municipality has again extended the lease for another three years.
Every day there are dozens of children who love our ponies and for whom the horse riding lesson is the highlight of the week. It is especially nice for them that thanks to the extension we have the opportunity to invest in solving overdue maintenance and broadening the range of lessons. It is also a huge relief for the staff and volunteers that we can now continue to build on the future together.” Youth riding school Hestar has been located at this location since 1968 and has rented the site and part of the buildings from the municipality from the start. The riding school is a non-profit foundation, where children can come into contact with equestrian sport from an early age. Thanks to the idealistic starting points, this is possible for a large group of children within the municipality. Over the past period, various media have called for intensive cooperation with the neighboring stable Esbi. The chairman of the board responds: “Of course we like to see where we can find each other. This does not only apply to Esbi, but also to our other neighbors such as Hockeyclub Cartouche and Tenniscentrum Overdam. Youth riding school Hestar, however, is an FNRS Equestrian Center, assessed with three stars, and in possession of the Safety Certificate of the Stichting Veilige Paardensport. These two proofs of professionalism, safety and expertise with regard to horse welfare form the guideline within the riding school. The conditions of both certificates preclude a formal collaboration with a stable that does not own it.”
